Enaliis is a large and beautiful city-state, with striking towers of white and gold rising out of the vibrant cityscape’s skyline. The city is a beacon of prosperity, opportunity and progress. But there is a darker side to its prosperity.

The city’s utopian aesthetic and superficial wealth hide the corruption running rife in the higher circles of the city, and it struggles with crime whilst failing at justice. Split into the upper, middle and lower wards, the city is divided into areas of rich and poor. The class system, determined by your home and your wealth, is unspoken yet pervasive. The inequality between the rich and poor of the city is prominent, yet the upper class are wilfully ignorant of the suffering and injustice for which their lifestyles are directly responsible. 

Many of the people of the city band together into factions. Factions have a goal, whether that be a street gang trying to make money or a political party attempting to gain power. Regardless of their goal, the factions are all trying to change things, and change only comes when people work together to achieve it.

When playing Intrigue, you work for a faction trying to rise to prominence, bring down those with power, or hold onto what it already has. You help your faction to achieve its goals and overcome opposing factions vying for power by collecting information, sabotaging their plans, negotiating and fighting. You play as an agent bringing about change - or resisting it - in a city that has a build-up of conflict just waiting to happen.

Hey there. I had a lot of fun working on this! It's such an interesting setting - I tried to make it bursting with different themes and topics that could be addressed in the game. If it isn't obvious, I was hugely inspired by Arcane, a series on Netflix (you should definitely watch it, it is a masterpiece and I honestly think it could be the single best series ever made). Its setting is amazing and very atmospheric, and I tried to recreate that feeling but put my own twist on it.
